An emergency meeting was held between some prominent politicians and Jihadi leaders on Monday where they discussed the ongoing situation in the country particularly that following Wednesday's deadly bombing in Kabul.
The meeting was attended by former president Hamid Karzai, former vice president Mohammad Karim Khalili and a number of Jihadi leaders including Sibaghatollah Mojadedi and Abdul Rab Rasoul Sayyaf.
At the meeting, these individuals called on government to consider systematic reforms in the country's security institutions and intelligence services to help improve the security situation.
"We urge the officials to consider systematic reforms in the security, defense and intelligence sectors that could meet the sensitive situations of the country," a statement released after the meeting states.
The participants also voiced support for civil protests in line with the law and called on government to hold security personnel who opened fire on protesters in Kabul on Friday accountable.
"We strongly believe that civil protests and raising the voice for justice within the framework of the law are among the fundamental civil and political rights of the citizens in a responsible country," the statement said.
They also called on the Afghan people to protect unity among themselves to thwart negative propaganda by the enemies.
